An Indian dhow named HAJI ALI, a mechanized sailing vessel, encountered an incident in Omani waters while en route from Somalia to Sharjah, UAE. The vessel experienced a fire onboard, leading to its sinking. Fortunately, all 14 crew members were rescued by the Omani Coast Guard and have safely reached Dibba Port, Oman. The crew members are reported to be unharmed, with necessary formalities completed in coordination with local authorities.
Despite the incident involving the MSV HAJI ALI, no other incidents involving Indian vessels or foreign vessels with Indian seafarers have been reported in the past 72 hours. The Ministry assured that all other Indian seafarers in the region are safe and accounted for. Additionally, the DGShipping Control Room has been actively responding to calls and emails, handling a significant volume of inquiries and facilitating the repatriation of Indian seafarers from the Gulf region.
Port operations across India continue smoothly without any reported congestion, ensuring the ongoing maritime activities remain unaffected.
