Two individuals lost their lives, and one sustained severe injuries following a car colliding with their motorcycle near a railway bridge on the Shipra Bypass in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. The fatal incident, which took place in the morning, resulted in a two-hour road closure due to local residents demanding action against alleged road irregularities. Authorities reported that a speeding car traveling from Indore veered out of control on the uneven surface of the bridge, crossed the divider, skidded for about 100 feet, and collided head-on with the motorcycle.
The victims, identified as Haider and Ansar, were fatally wounded at the scene, while Imran was critically injured and subsequently transferred to an Indore hospital for medical attention. Haider was thrown off the bridge, falling approximately 50 feet, while Ansar and Imran sustained severe leg injuries in the crash. Following the accident, villagers congregated at the site, obstructing the bypass road for nearly two hours, citing poor road conditions on the bridge as the cause of numerous previous accidents.
The protesters accused authorities of delayed ambulance dispatches, noting that the victims had to be transported to the district hospital using private vehicles and tractor-trolleys. The demonstration led to significant traffic congestion on both sides of the bypass until SDM Abhishek Sharma and other senior police officials intervened, persuading the protesters to clear the road for smooth traffic flow. Subsequently, the villagers agreed to disperse after receiving assurances from the administration that the issue of road defects would be addressed by the relevant committee.
