Two men lost their lives, and another was critically injured when a high-speed Vande Bharat train collided with them near a level crossing in Rajkot, Gujarat. The tragic incident occurred close to Gondal Chowkdi between Bhaktinagar and Ribda railway stations in the Bhavnagar division. It was reported that three individuals came onto the railway track and were struck by the train.
One of the men died at the scene, while the other two suffered severe injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, one of the injured individuals passed away during treatment, bringing the death toll to two, while the third person remains hospitalized at Rajkot Civil Hospital. Emergency services were alerted by local residents, leading to the swift response of teams from the 108 ambulance service, railway police, and local law enforcement.
Kirtanbhai Parmar, an official from the 108 emergency ambulance service in Rajkot, mentioned that upon receiving the distress call, their team immediately sprang into action. The Vande Bharat train had to pause temporarily to facilitate medical aid and complete necessary formalities before resuming its journey. The incident caused a partial disruption to the railway schedule, according to a Rajkot railway administration official.
