Two individuals have been apprehended for their involvement in the recent violent workers’ protest in Noida, as confirmed by the police. Himanshu Thakur and Satyam Verma, who were reportedly in contact with the alleged mastermind Aditya Anand, were taken into custody on Sunday night. Both face charges of inciting violence during the protest, according to officials.
The Gautam Buddha Nagar Police revealed that electronic surveillance uncovered the active participation of Thakur and Verma in instigating and coordinating violent acts during the protest, leading to clashes. Following the outbreak of violence, an FIR was lodged at the Phase 2 police station. The police, utilizing electronic surveillance and technical assistance, tracked the movements of the accused to various locations before arresting them on April 19.
Earlier, on April 17, authorities had identified three alleged masterminds, including Aditya Anand, Rupesh Roi, and Manisha Chauhan. Additionally, investigators highlighted the involvement of two accounts operating from Pakistan that disseminated misleading information contributing to public disorder. Aditya was apprehended by a joint operation of the Noida Police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force at Tiruchirappalli Railway Station on April 18 and has since been detained, along with Rupesh and Manisha.
Efforts are ongoing to unravel the network responsible for the violence and establish further connections in the case, officials stated. Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway, with police working to gather additional evidence.
