Two more individuals have been arrested, and three security personnel have been suspended following a viral video showing a woman flaunting a large sum of money at her home in Tripura’s Dhalai district. The total arrests now stand at four, including police officers, a health department employee, and a police constable’s wife. The accused were presented before a local court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.
Authorities have suspended a Tripura State Rifles jawan and two police personnel, including a female constable, in connection with the case. The preliminary investigation revealed that the accused are part of an organized illegal money investment racket that collected significant sums from individuals, particularly police officers, promising high returns. Allegedly, when investors sought their money back, the accused resorted to intimidation and threats through their network.
A police constable filed a complaint against the accused for their clandestine financial dealings. Despite this, no cash has been recovered from the woman’s residence, who is married to a police constable. Investigators suspect a larger organized network behind the scenes, potentially linked to illegal financial transactions and drug trafficking activities.
