Two alleged notorious criminals were apprehended by the Delhi Police near Zakir Husain College on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg in the national capital. The Special Staff team of the Central District conducted the operation, leading to the arrest of Sahil and Avinash after a late-night exchange of fire. Both suspects sustained leg injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Sahil and Avinash had been on the Delhi Police’s most-wanted list for several days. They were allegedly involved in a recent shooting in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area, which triggered a city-wide manhunt by the Special Staff teams. Acting on specific intelligence, the police laid a trap near Zakir Husain College, suspecting the duo’s presence for potential criminal activities.
During the encounter, the suspects attempted to flee and fired at the police, prompting the officers to retaliate in self-defence. Nearly 10 rounds were fired during the exchange. The police managed to subdue and arrest Sahil and Avinash, who were then hospitalized for their injuries. Illegal firearms and live cartridges used in the incident were recovered from the scene.
The Delhi Police is now investigating the criminal backgrounds of the arrested individuals and their potential connections with other criminal networks in the city. Authorities are also looking into the motive behind the Karol Bagh shooting and whether the suspects had plans for further criminal activities in central Delhi before their capture.
