Two teenage girls lost their lives in a devastating road accident near Bhatari Mod in Aurangabad district. A speeding vehicle, which had lost control, struck the girls as they were returning from coaching classes. The victims, identified as Afsari (15) and Ashiya (15), were cousins and residents of Naraula village.
The incident occurred when the vehicle, a Scorpio, collided with an electric pole before hitting the girls who were riding bicycles. Despite immediate efforts by villagers to rush them to a nearby hospital, both girls were declared dead by doctors. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and is currently on the run, with police actively searching for the individual.
Family members and villagers, distraught by the tragedy, staged a protest near Bhatari Mod demanding justice. They called for the driver’s swift arrest, adequate compensation for the bereaved families, and improved road safety measures in the area. The protest led to a temporary road blockade on the Obra-Pauthu route, causing a halt in traffic for several hours.
In response to the fatal accident, an FIR has been lodged at Pauthu Police Station under charges related to reckless driving. Police authorities are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend the driver of the Scorpio SUV involved in the tragic incident. The investigation includes scrutinizing CCTV footage to track the vehicle’s movements and determine the driver’s identity.
