Two teenagers tragically lost their lives in Bihar’s West Champaran district when they were struck by the Amrit Bharat Express while filming a video near a railway track. The incident took place on the Bettiah–Narkatiaganj railway line, between Gulab Nagar railway crossing and Sathi railway station, close to railway pillar number 234/31.
Sathi railway station superintendent Santosh Kumar confirmed the unfortunate event, mentioning that the Amrit Bharat Express was en route from Muzaffarpur to Narkatiaganj while a military train was approaching on a parallel track from Narkatiaganj towards Muzaffarpur. The teenagers, engrossed in recording a video on their mobile phones near the tracks, were unable to react in time as trains approached from both directions simultaneously, resulting in a tragic accident.
The two young boys, identified as Salman Alam (16) from Dharmpur Sathi village and Alamgir Alam (16) from Bhedihari village under the Purushottampur police station area, lost their lives on the spot. Following the incident, a large crowd gathered at the site, causing chaos and distress in the vicinity.
Railway authorities have informed the Government Railway Police (GRP), Bettiah, about the incident and have initiated an investigation into the matter. The bodies of the deceased teenagers have been handed over to their families, and further legal procedures are being carried out. Santosh Kumar emphasized the importance of avoiding proximity to railway tracks, especially during low visibility hours in the morning and evening due to winter fog.
