Two individuals, one being a woman, were apprehended in Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, with arms, ammunition, and Rs 8.4 lakh in cash, as confirmed by the police on Thursday. The operation, carried out by the Ganderbal police station in collaboration with the Special Operations Group (SOG), led to the recovery of a Chinese pistol, grenades, and cash from the suspects.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir from Bandipora district and Shabnum Nazir from Ganderbal. A case has been registered under relevant laws, and investigations are ongoing to determine the origins and motives behind the recovered items. The police have emphasized the importance of public cooperation in providing information on any anti-national or criminal activities.
The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their efforts against terrorism by targeting not only terrorists but also their associates, overground workers, and supporters. The focus is on disrupting the entire network that aids terrorism, including drug smugglers and those involved in illicit money transactions, which are believed to fund terrorist activities in the region.
