The United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala revealed a comprehensive manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections. The manifesto, launched by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Kochi, focuses on infrastructure development and welfare initiatives. One of the key highlights is the “Mission Samudra” project aimed at transforming Kerala into a global maritime hub by utilizing its extensive coastline, rivers, and ports.
The manifesto outlines plans for a water transport grid to enhance cargo movement, passenger services, and tourism, creating a unified coastal logistics system. Additionally, there are proposals for expanding aviation infrastructure, including runway upgrades, terminal enhancements, and incentives for route development to boost connectivity and investment in the state.
Emphasizing job creation and entrepreneurship, the UDF aims to support 10,000 MSMEs with annual revenues exceeding Rs 100 crore through various financial mechanisms. The manifesto also includes initiatives like a “Job Watch Tower” to monitor global job trends and align higher education with market demands.
On the welfare front, the manifesto promises social security pensions of Rs 3,000, revival of schemes like the Karunya Benevolent Fund, and the launch of “Indira Canteens” for affordable food access. Special provisions are made for youth and women, with funds allocated for youth-led projects and enhanced support for women’s employment and safety.
Healthcare and education are key focus areas, with commitments to increase budget allocations for health, provide free dialysis for BPL families, expand medical colleges, and reduce out-of-pocket expenses. Education reforms include anti-ragging measures, student mobility programs, and scholarships for domestic and international study opportunities.
The manifesto also addresses the needs of farmers and coastal communities, pledging fair price mechanisms, rubber price support, diesel subsidies for fishermen, and legal protection for fishing rights. Tribal welfare, housing for the underprivileged, and targeted programs for marginalized groups are integral components of the UDF’s social agenda.
With a blend of infrastructure ambitions and welfare promises, the UDF manifesto aims to present a growth-oriented and socially responsible vision, setting the stage for a competitive election focused on development narratives.
Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan stated that the UDF government plans to review the manifesto’s implementation progress monthly.
