UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, stressing the need for its full reopening without any restrictions or tolls. During discussions with representatives from over 40 nations, Cooper led talks on the urgent necessity to restore freedom of navigation for international maritime traffic. She emphasized that a swift resolution to the conflict is crucial for enhancing security, safeguarding citizens in the region, and mitigating the impact on the cost of living domestically. Cooper reiterated the UK’s stance on the importance of de-escalation and the immediate cessation of disruptive activities by Iran in the Strait.
