Certain unauthorized theatrical screenings of actor Suriya’s upcoming film ‘Karuppu’ in North India have raised concerns. The makers of the movie have issued a warning against downloading, sharing, or exhibiting any unauthorized content related to ‘Karuppu’. Legal counsel Vijayan Subramanian, representing Dream Warrior Pictures, highlighted the issue in a public notice.
The legal counsel expressed shock over the unauthorized activation of KDMs by Qube Cinema Technologies, leading to the unlawful exhibition of the Tamil film ‘Karuppu’ in North India without proper authorization. This unauthorized screening has resulted in the illegal recording and circulation of copyrighted content from the movie on various digital platforms.
According to the lawyer, any form of downloading, sharing, or circulating scenes or leaked content from ‘Karuppu’ through social media platforms or other mediums constitutes a serious offense under copyright laws. The act is considered piracy, copyright infringement, and unlawful dissemination of protected content, carrying severe civil and criminal consequences.
The public has been strongly advised against engaging in any activities related to unauthorized content from the film ‘Karuppu’. Legal action, including civil and criminal proceedings, will be taken against individuals found involved in such activities, as per the Copyright Act, 1957, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
