Addressing the Kharif Conclave-2026 in New Delhi, Chouhan stressed the importance of food security, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and providing nutritious food to the citizens. The conclave, attended by State Agriculture Ministers, scientists, and officials, aims to discuss preparations for the kharif season and ensure farmers receive better planning, technology, and support.
State Agriculture Ministers, scientists, and officials from across the country are participating in the conclave to review preparations for the kharif and rabi crops. Discussions include topics such as suitable seeds for sowing, effective delivery of agriculture missions, and creating separate missions for pulses and oilseeds. The conclave also addresses climate change challenges in agriculture, emphasizing the need for sustainable farming practices in the face of changing weather patterns.
Chouhan commended the efforts of farmers and government schemes that led to record foodgrain production in the country. India achieved a milestone in rice production, becoming the world’s top producer. The country also saw significant success in oilseeds production, with groundnut and rapeseed-mustard reaching record levels. Noting an increase in pulses production, Chouhan expressed optimism for further growth in the sector in the upcoming years.
