Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently conducted a thorough assessment of wheat and gram procurement operations in Raisen district, which encompasses all four districts of his parliamentary constituency, Vidisha. The meeting aimed to enhance transparency, ensure timely procurement, and simplify the process for farmers during the current rabi marketing season. Chouhan emphasized that the government’s top priority is to facilitate hassle-free selling of produce for farmers.
Chouhan underscored the government’s commitment to supporting farmers without causing any inconvenience, emphasizing that it is a duty rather than a favor. He issued directives to streamline the slot booking system, guarantee sufficient availability of gunny bags, and bolster essential facilities at procurement centers. The Minister stressed a zero-tolerance policy towards negligence and urged strict vigilance to prevent any irregularities in the procurement process.
Emphasizing the importance of monitoring, Chouhan instructed officials to regularly assess procurement targets, progress, center numbers, and on-site infrastructure. He mandated the establishment of additional procurement centers as needed to prevent overcrowding and ensure efficient operations, especially in high-production regions. In Vidisha district, officials reported that over 81,000 farmers have registered, with approximately 45,000 completing slot bookings thus far.
