The Union government, under the leadership of Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, is targeting the commencement of Airbus and cargo flight operations at Keshod Airport by 2027. Mandaviya, who represents Porbandar in Parliament and holds key ministerial positions, emphasized the need for officials to expedite work to meet this deadline. The government’s plan aligns with the Airports Authority of India’s efforts to expand Keshod Airport, with a redevelopment project estimated at Rs 364 crore.
Reviewing the progress of various development projects in Junagadh, Mandaviya urged departments to provide detailed progress reports and ensure that all tasks are completed with high quality and transparency within the specified timelines. The minister emphasized the importance of timely implementation to achieve the goal of starting Airbus and cargo operations at Keshod Airport as planned for 2027. Additionally, he highlighted the need for effective disaster preparedness during the monsoon season, instructing relevant agencies to be vigilant and ready for rescue and relief efforts if needed.
Mandaviya also assessed the impact of heavy monsoon rains in the Junagadh region and instructed officials to prioritize prompt action to minimize inconvenience to farmers and the public. Furthermore, he oversaw development and mitigation initiatives in the Ghed region, providing guidance on their effective execution to ensure positive outcomes for the community.
