Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the Narendra Modi government’s endeavors to boost Assam’s cultural heritage during a public rally in Hailakandi district. He praised PM Modi for elevating Assam’s cultural symbols globally, including the traditional ‘gamocha.’ Shah criticized Rahul Gandhi for allegedly refusing to wear the gamocha at a Republic Day event.
Shah also mentioned the installation of a statue honoring Ahom general Lachit Borphukan in New Delhi by the Modi government to celebrate his valor worldwide. He highlighted the distribution of land ownership pattas to around 3.5 lakh families in 707 tea gardens, aiming to empower tea garden communities across Assam.
Moreover, Shah discussed key policy decisions such as the abolition of triple talaq and the conversion of 402 madrasas into primary schools in Assam. He advocated for the Uniform Civil Code to ensure equality and urged voters to support the BJP for its implementation in the state. Shah promised increased financial aid for farmers, subsidies for tractor purchases, and various welfare measures if the BJP is re-elected in Assam.
In another rally in Patharkandi, Shah targeted the Congress, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to safeguard Assam from illegal infiltration. He pledged to identify and remove infiltrators if the BJP regains power, accusing them of depriving locals of jobs, benefits, and wages. Shah asserted that under BJP-NDA governance, infiltration would be halted in Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura.
