Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently convened a meeting with senior leaders of the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhubaneswar. The discussions encompassed various topics, including preparations for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with other prominent figures like Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and BJP MP Sambit Patra, participated in the meeting.
Samal, the Odisha BJP President, highlighted that the talks with HM Shah primarily revolved around organizational affairs and the prevailing political landscape in the state. The Union Home Minister engaged with party leaders and MLAs to delve into the current political and administrative scenario in Odisha, touching upon government operations.
During the interaction, Shah sought insights from party members on the functioning of the BJP structure in Odisha and various political and organizational concerns. The leadership emphasized the need to fortify the party setup and make arrangements for the forthcoming panchayat elections in the state.
While the discussions encompassed a wide array of topics, the state BJP president clarified that strategies for the Rajya Sabha elections were not on the agenda during the meeting with candidates. Additionally, BJP MP Balabhadra Majhi noted that Shah extensively discussed state-related issues, the impending Rajya Sabha polls, organizational reinforcement, and the holistic progress of Odisha.
Majhi further mentioned that HM Shah urged BJP MLAs to secure victory for Dilip Ray, the party’s fourth candidate, in the upcoming Rajya Sabha election. The Union Home Minister pledged full support from the Central government for Odisha’s development and encouraged party leaders to collaborate in propelling the state forward.
