Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to finalize the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) plan for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. His two-week-long tour of these election-bound states begins on Sunday. Following the triumph in the Bihar Assembly polls, Shah has outlined a key strategy for the elections in these four states, as per a party official.
Shah’s itinerary includes visits to Assam on December 28-29, West Bengal on December 30-31, Tamil Nadu in early January, and Kerala in the second week of January. During his stay, he will dedicate at least two days per month to each state until the elections, focusing on devising winning strategies, especially in states where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is not in power.
Emphasizing the mobilization of Panna Pramukhs and the implementation of the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot’ initiative, Shah will conduct organizational meetings and engage with party members during his tour of the election-bound states. Sources within the BJP revealed that Shah aims to replicate the NDA’s success in Bihar by countering misinformation campaigns and tailoring state-specific strategies centered around Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In addition to coordinating with NDA partners, Shah’s winning formula involves effectively communicating with dissidents to prevent them from diluting the alliance’s voter base by contesting as independents. In the Bihar elections, Shah reportedly personally addressed around 100 rebels who were working against the party’s interests. The upcoming visits to the four states will also involve assessing the ground situation, identifying key issues, and preemptively countering opposition narratives, according to a party official.
The BJP is also strategizing to combat the spread of misinformation by rival parties on various socio-economic issues such as the rural job scheme, VB G RAM G, SIR, and employment rates. Shah’s visit aims to gauge public sentiment, address critical concerns, and equip the party to counter opposition propaganda effectively.
