Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan disclosed that the Centre has allocated Rs 95,692 crore to states and Union Territories, in addition to the Rs 30,000 crore already designated under MGNREGA, surpassing a total of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. This funding will benefit nearly 2.8 lakh gram panchayats nationwide, ensuring substantial financial support for each panchayat.

Chairing a meeting with Rural Development Ministers from various states on the ‘Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)’, Minister Chouhan emphasized the significance of this allocation. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a comprehensive financial and policy initiative has been introduced to boost rural employment, ensure workers’ security, and enhance overall village development.

During a video conference with Ministers from states and Union Territories, Minister Chouhan highlighted the importance of a seamless transition starting from July 1 under the new arrangement. He stressed the need for utilizing funds for development projects outlined in the VB-GRAM-G Act to promote employment generation and rural asset creation.
