Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan revealed that the ‘Viksit Bharat – Rozgar aur Aajeevika Mission (Gramin)’ (VB-G RAM G) will be officially launched nationwide from Andhra Pradesh on July 1. This announcement came after a meeting with Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in New Delhi, where they discussed various rural development programs and initiatives in the state. Ministers from all states and Union Territories will join the launch event via video conferencing from different locations across the country.
Chouhan highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s successful rural governance models, such as the Gram Panchayat Development Plan and zero-waste gram panchayats, during the meeting. He commended the state for its proactive approach to development matters and encouraged it to continue innovating in rural development. The Union Minister also mentioned that Andhra Pradesh’s successful models would serve as examples for other states to follow.
Deputy Chief Minister Kalyan updated the Union Minister on the progress of rural development schemes in Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing the geo-tagging of projects for transparency and the upcoming face recognition-based beneficiary verification system. He reported significant progress in the construction of rural roads and houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and the establishment of drinking water facilities for livestock in every panchayat, enhancing livelihood opportunities.
Kalyan expressed gratitude to the Centre and the Ministry of Rural Development for allocating over Rs 7,700 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the VB-G RAM G initiative. He stated that these funds would expedite rural development projects and enhance infrastructure in villages.
