The meeting also explored the adoption of mobile app-based paperless systems for station masters and an integrated station management system to improve coordination among departments and expedite passenger issue resolution. Additionally, proposals were discussed to empower station masters with enhanced administrative and operational capabilities, better career progression opportunities, and pathways to higher management roles.
These initiatives aim to enable station masters to make prompt decisions, enhance passenger service quality, and efficiently manage station infrastructure, offices, colonies, and related facilities. The Ministry of Railways highlighted the critical role of station masters in ensuring safe train operations, managing passenger facilities, and maintaining the smooth functioning of railway stations.
Furthermore, the discussions centered on addressing the challenges faced by station masters and creating a more motivating work environment for these essential operational personnel. The review emphasized the need for additional station masters in sections with high traffic and operational complexity, with a priority on filling vacancies promptly to enhance operational efficiency.
To facilitate quick issue resolution and enhance passenger convenience, proposals to increase the financial powers of station masters were reviewed. The focus also included providing advanced safety equipment and user-friendly tools at stations, considering the growing participation of women in this operational category.
