Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Arunachal Pradesh to assess the flood situation and pledged full support from the Centre for relief efforts in the Northeast. He expressed that the Central Government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, is ready to provide necessary aid to farmers and villagers affected by the floods.
Due to adverse weather conditions, Chouhan could not conduct an aerial survey in Arunachal Pradesh but plans to tour flood-affected areas in both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam on Wednesday. Accompanied by Union Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Chouhan visited affected regions to evaluate the impact of the floods.
During his visit, Chouhan interacted with locals, listened to their grievances, and assured them of government assistance. He emphasized the importance of assessing the situation comprehensively to ensure effective aid reaches every affected farmer and family in the region. Chouhan also discussed relief efforts, rehabilitation plans, and future strategies with senior officials of the Arunachal Pradesh government.
The Union Minister is set to conduct an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to evaluate the damage to infrastructure and agricultural lands. He highlighted the need for immediate relief measures while also stressing the importance of long-term strategies to mitigate future flood-related damages. Chouhan reassured the affected people of Arunachal and Assam of the government’s commitment to supporting them through this crisis.
