Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi mentioned that Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, was arrested for actively highlighting the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna. During a press conference in Gaya, Manjhi refrained from elaborating on the issue due to its legal status.
Manjhi stated that Pappu Yadav’s arrest was linked to an old case and emphasized the need for caution in discussing the matter further. He expressed deep sorrow over the NEET aspirant’s demise, labeling it as a murder. Bihar Home Minister Samrat Choudhary assured that the culprits would face consequences and urged the public to provide any relevant evidence.
The Union Minister disclosed that various investigative bodies were looking into the case, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) already involved. The case has now been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and additional agencies may be engaged if necessary, according to Manjhi.
Pappu Yadav’s recent arrest is connected to a decades-old legal issue related to a rented property, with an FIR filed back in 1995 at the Gardanibagh Police Station. Currently, he is in judicial custody for 14 days and is receiving medical treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) due to health concerns. Reports suggest that he will be moved to Beur Jail, Patna, once his health stabilizes.
Pappu Yadav has been actively involved in seeking justice since the NEET aspirant’s tragic incident in Patna. He has met the victim’s family multiple times in Jehanabad, demanding stringent action against the individuals responsible for the unfortunate event. The NEET aspirant was discovered unconscious at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Chitragupt Nagar on January 6 and passed away on January 11 in a private hospital due to her injuries.
