Reacting to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)’s decision to officially boycott the upcoming INDIA bloc meeting, Union Minister Giriraj Singh expressed concerns about the lack of unity within the Opposition alliance. He criticized the alliance for being driven solely by political self-interest, highlighting a sense of betrayal between the Congress and DMK due to their past collaboration during elections. Singh emphasized that the INDIA bloc appears united only for selfish gains, with Rahul Gandhi being singled out as a significant threat to the alliance.
The DMK recently announced its decision to skip the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled for June 8, citing reasons for their boycott. Additionally, Giriraj Singh commented on the withdrawal of Z+ security cover for former Bihar Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. He questioned the necessity of security for the former leaders, pointing out that security provisions are based on established government criteria. Singh emphasized the importance of adhering to security protocols and criticized any misuse of security privileges as a status symbol.
The political landscape in Bihar has witnessed heightened tensions following the withdrawal of Z+ security cover from Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rabri Devi responded by sending back all security personnel from her official residence, expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s decision. In a counter-accusation, Shakti Singh Yadav, the Chief Spokesperson of RJD, accused the BJP-led Bihar government of targeting Opposition leaders for political motives. He labeled the security withdrawal as a deliberate attempt to demean Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav, branding it as an act of vendetta.
