Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita criticized the emerging Opposition alliance in Assam, particularly leaders like Gaurav Gogoi, Akhil Gogoi, and Lurinjyoti Gogoi. Margherita stated that such alliances prioritize personal interests over public welfare, a sentiment not favored by the people of Assam.
Margherita highlighted that Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi has formed an alliance with regional parties, including Raijor Dal led by Akhil Gogoi and Assam Jatiya Parishad led by Lurinjyoti Gogoi. He also criticized the limited outreach and disconnection from grassroots realities of the Opposition leaders’ meetings.
The BJP leader pointed out that the Opposition leaders’ discussions are confined to hotels, indicating a detachment from common people. Margherita emphasized the strong support of the people of Assam for the BJP and its development agenda, stating that the electorate trusts the party’s leadership and governance.
Margherita accused the Congress of attempting to regain power to revive corrupt practices, expressing that the people of Assam oppose such politics that could turn the state into a marketplace for jobs. These remarks come amidst heightened political activities in Assam as Opposition parties form alliances to challenge the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections.
