Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat responded to criticism regarding the architectural design of the newly inaugurated Jodhpur Airport terminal. He dismissed opposition claims, stating that some are politicizing development efforts instead of appreciating the project’s significance. Shekhawat emphasized the need for a deeper understanding of the terminal’s design philosophy before passing judgment.
The Union Minister hailed the inauguration as a significant milestone for Jodhpur, reflecting years of public demand and collaborative efforts. The modern integrated terminal, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 480 crore, is poised to enhance the city’s aviation infrastructure and connectivity with major destinations across India. Shekhawat highlighted the challenges faced in acquiring nearly 37 acres of land for the terminal.
He credited the successful completion of the project to the coordinated efforts of various agencies, including the Indian Air Force, the Airports Authority of India, and the Rajasthan government. Shekhawat acknowledged the support received from Prime Minister Modi and other key figures in facilitating the terminal’s development. The project’s completion signifies a significant step forward for Jodhpur’s aviation sector and future growth prospects.
