Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has urged the Telangana Congress government to publish a detailed white paper on the state’s financial status before the budget session begins on March 16. Reddy highlighted the financial aid and assistance provided by the Central government to Telangana over the past 12 years in a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He criticized the state’s current financial condition, attributing it to the governance of the past 10 years under BRS and the recent 27 months of Congress rule.
Kishan Reddy pointed out the escalating per capita debt of Telangana, emphasizing the urgent need for transparency regarding the state’s financial health. He referenced the Congress party’s promises during the 2023 Assembly elections and accused the Chief Minister of failing to fulfill commitments made to the public. The Union Minister underscored the substantial financial support extended by the NDA government, totaling around Rs 12 lakh crore through various schemes and investments for Telangana’s progress and welfare.
Highlighting specific allocations, Kishan Reddy mentioned significant contributions such as tax shares, road construction, railway budgets, employment guarantee funds, and allocations for various sectors like education, health care, and agriculture. He also noted the Central government’s procurement of paddy and cotton from Telangana farmers at minimum support prices, along with the provision of substantial loans for state development projects. The Minister criticized the state government’s heavy reliance on interest-free loans for essential expenditures, indicating a precarious financial situation.
