Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse stressed the need for a united and mission-oriented approach to address the rising issue of substance abuse among young people. Speaking at the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Purvottar” program in Shillong, she highlighted the importance of protecting the youth to achieve a developed India by 2047. Khadse underlined that guiding and empowering young individuals with positive opportunities are crucial for the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
Highlighting the gravity of substance abuse, Khadse emphasized the necessity for a collective effort rather than viewing it as an individual challenge. She called for coordinated community action and sustained institutional intervention to tackle this social concern effectively. The Minister also mentioned the role of MY Bharat in connecting youth with nation-building initiatives and promoting their involvement in addressing grassroots social challenges.
Khadse further emphasized the transformative power of sports in engaging young people positively and reducing their vulnerability to addiction, stress, and isolation. She encouraged the promotion of sports, local cultural activities, and community engagement to channel youth energy constructively. Additionally, she noted the significance of increasing youth participation in cultural and spiritual programs to guide them towards responsible social engagement and collective responsibility.
