Union Minister Bhupender Yadav highlighted that India’s move towards electric mobility goes beyond technology replacement to establishing a sustainable industrial ecosystem. Speaking at a conference, he stressed the importance of green growth, resilient infrastructure, and a circular economy for environmental sustainability. Yadav underlined the need for a shift from a linear model to a circular economy based on reuse, recycling, and sustainable resource management.
He emphasized the necessity of a robust charging infrastructure, local manufacturing, secure mineral supply chains, and battery recycling to support electric mobility. Yadav called for collaboration among industry, policymakers, and institutions to make India a global clean mobility hub. He noted that balancing ecology and economy through collaborative efforts could position India as a leader in sustainable manufacturing and green mobility.
The minister mentioned government reforms aimed at simplifying environmental clearances, digitizing approval systems, and promoting ease of doing business while ensuring environmental protection. These reforms facilitate quicker investments for responsible development. The conference convened key stakeholders to discuss strategies for accelerating India’s electric mobility transition and enhancing its global position in EV manufacturing.
