Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has promised full assistance to Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh for enhancing national and state highways in the region. The Chief Minister, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho, met Gadkari in New Delhi to discuss various road infrastructure projects in Manipur. Singh emphasized the need for elevated highways and the strengthening of National Highways to boost connectivity and logistics in the state.
Gadkari assured the Manipur delegation of cooperation from his Ministry and expressed willingness to consider the state government’s proposals positively. The Minister also shared updates on the progress of National Highway projects in Manipur and highlighted efforts to ensure timely completion and improved infrastructure. Chief Minister Khemchand Singh, during his visit to New Delhi, engaged with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers to address developmental and welfare issues in Manipur.
Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved the construction of 5,000 houses for Internally Displaced Persons affected by ethnic violence in Manipur. These houses will be built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. Additionally, discussions with Union Ministers like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Rajnath Singh focused on coordinating efforts to support Manipur’s development initiatives and address key concerns.
