Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Jitan Ram Manjhi recently launched the PM Vishwakarma Haat 2026 in New Delhi. This event serves as a platform for artisans and craftspeople from disadvantaged backgrounds to exhibit their handcrafted products. The inauguration witnessed the presence of ambassadors from Iraq and Rwanda, along with officials from the MSME Ministry and various states.
The exhibition, held at Dilli Haat from January 18 to 31, aims to celebrate India’s rich tradition of craftsmanship. With over 117 artisans participating from different states and union territories, the PM Vishwakarma Haat provides a significant opportunity for village-level artisans to showcase and sell their creations. Minister Manjhi and MoS Shobha Karandlaje highlighted the crucial role of the artisan sector in driving India’s economy.
The PM Vishwakarma Haat not only offers a platform for artisans but also provides them with various benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma scheme. These benefits include skill training, financial incentives, marketing support, and access to collateral-free loans. Officials emphasized the scheme’s role in empowering artisans and promoting their traditional expertise in contributing to the nation’s development.
Cultural programs and folk dance performances, reflecting the cultural diversity of India, were also part of the event. The exhibition, open daily from 10.30 a.m. to 10 p.m., aims to create marketing opportunities and enhance visibility for artisans, aligning with the vision of “Virasat se Vikas.”
