Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized that the Central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has allocated nearly Rs 6 lakh crore for the Northeast’s progress in the last 12 years. Infrastructure in the region, comprising eight states, has notably improved since Modi took office in 2014.
Scindia inaugurated the Rs 450-crore Matabari Tourism Circuit, aiming to boost Tripura’s economy and create numerous job opportunities. The project’s foundation stone was laid at Narkel Kunj, a popular tourist spot in Tripura’s Gomati district, surrounded by the picturesque Dumboor Lake.
The Matabari Tourism Circuit will include visits to key attractions like Ujjayanta Palace, Neermahal, and Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, enhancing the state’s tourism infrastructure. State Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the circuit’s role in elevating Tripura’s global tourism presence and boosting the economy through various beautification and development initiatives.
Union Minister Scindia also initiated an Rs 80-crore Agarwood Cluster Processing Centre in North Tripura district to promote local industries globally, aligning with the ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) policies. Under the ‘Ashtalakshmi’ vision of PM Modi, the Northeast has evolved into a significant driver of India’s growth, as stated by Scindia during his visit to Tripura.
