Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is set to visit Shillong for a two-day trip starting Wednesday. He will participate in the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), with the session chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The NEC plenary, scheduled for June 4 at the State Convention Centre in Shillong, will focus on key issues concerning the overall development of the North Eastern region. Discussions will include topics like regional connectivity, infrastructure expansion, economic growth, and enhancing inter-state coordination among the eight Northeastern states.
During his visit, Scindia will also engage in discussions at the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) regarding the utilization of space technology and advanced solutions to drive development in the Northeast. The aim is to explore technology-driven interventions for sectors such as disaster management, connectivity, agriculture, planning, and resource mapping in the region.
The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has been actively working on various initiatives to boost physical and digital connectivity, enhance infrastructure, support tourism, increase agricultural productivity, promote skill development, and create more economic opportunities in the Northeastern states. The upcoming NEC plenary holds significance as the government continues to prioritize rapid development and deeper regional integration in the Northeast.
