Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed gratitude for the heartfelt reception he received during his visit to Mangan district in Sikkim. He praised the hospitality and spirit of the people in the region, highlighting the warm welcome he received in Mangan, Lachung, and Lachen. Rijiju described the Himalayan region as a place that embodies strength and simplicity at its best.
The Union Minister, accompanied by Sikkim minister Samdup Lepcha, government officials, local leaders, and singer Mohit Chauhan, emphasized the close coordination between the Centre and the state government for development and public outreach in the area. He also commended the cultural richness and peaceful atmosphere of North Sikkim, noting that such interactions help strengthen bonds among communities and leadership.
Rijiju’s visit holds significance amidst the ongoing focus on enhancing connectivity, tourism, and infrastructure development in the strategically vital state of Sikkim. Recently, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various development projects worth approximately Rs 4,000 crore in Sikkim. He emphasized the Northeast’s importance, referring to it as India’s “Ashtalakshmi,” with Sikkim playing a crucial role in it. PM Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to the Northeast’s development, transitioning from the “Act East” policy to an “Act Fast” approach.
