Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan revealed that the Anaimangalam copper plates from the Chola era, recently found in the Netherlands, will be repatriated to Tamil Nadu soon. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading efforts to retrieve valuable artifacts taken abroad. The recovery of the Leiden copper plates is seen as a significant step in safeguarding India’s cultural legacy.
The Central government, as per Murugan, is dedicated to promptly bringing back the recovered copper plates to Tamil Nadu. He emphasized PM Modi’s commitment to protecting and restoring India’s cultural heritage by securing the return of artifacts from overseas collections. The Anaimangalam copper plates, also known as the Leiden copper plates, are crucial inscriptions shedding light on Emperor Rajaraja Chola I’s rule and grants to a Buddhist monastery in Nagapattinam.
Murugan, a participant in PM Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” program, highlighted the recent themes discussed by the Prime Minister. Modi commended India’s sporting achievements and engaged with talented athletes Gurindervir Singh and Animesh Kujur, particularly recognizing their track and field performances. The PM also mentioned traditional methods used in India to combat the summer season, such as consuming buttermilk and region-specific mango varieties.
The Minister commended the students of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya in Nagercoil, who raised Rs 40 lakh for armed forces’ welfare by saving Re 1 daily. He viewed this act as a commendable display of patriotism, discipline, and social responsibility among the youth. State BJP vice-president Karu Nagarajan and various party members were present at the event.
