Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted how India’s new free trade agreements are opening avenues for manufacturing and innovation, urging the youth to prepare for global competition. Speaking at the launch of an online BBA program at IIM Udaipur, Goyal emphasized the importance of practical skills and technology-driven learning for leveraging these trade deals.
Goyal emphasized that the new FTAs are not only boosting manufacturing but also fostering innovation, presenting a wealth of opportunities for the country’s youth. He stressed the need for students to blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience to adapt to the evolving global economic landscape.
Addressing the significance of technology in education, Goyal pointed out that India’s vast internet user base offers a platform to deliver quality education at scale in alignment with the National Education Policy. He praised the bilingual BBA program at IIM Udaipur for bridging the urban-rural educational gap and providing management education to students from diverse backgrounds.
Goyal lauded the initiative to offer the program in Hindi and English, making IIM-quality education accessible to a wider audience. He highlighted the program’s potential to reach students across different regions, enabling them to pursue management studies in a language they are comfortable with. By transitioning to online classes, the program aims to enhance accessibility while maintaining accountability through offline examinations.
The minister proposed enhancing the hybrid learning model by facilitating regular face-to-face interactions between faculty and students. He emphasized the value of peer learning and networking in management education, extending beyond traditional classroom teaching.
