Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will be in Berne, Switzerland from June 12-13 to hold talks with senior Swiss Government officials and leaders of the country’s pharmaceutical industry. The discussions will revolve around the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), addressing operational issues arising from the agreement, and boosting bilateral trade, investment, and institutional cooperation.
Goyal’s agenda includes meetings with Helene Budliger Artieda, State Secretary for Economic Affairs, and Guy Parmelin, Federal President of Switzerland. Additionally, he will engage with key figures from the Swiss pharmaceutical sector. This visit highlights India’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Switzerland and other EFTA States.
The TEPA, signed by India and EFTA States in March 2024 and effective since October 2025, aims to enhance trade, investment, and economic collaboration. Goyal will also interact with Swiss companies and investors in Zurich to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral trade and investment, fostering deeper economic collaboration.
Accompanied by officials from DPIIT and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Goyal’s visit seeks to bolster the implementation of TEPA and reinforce the enduring economic partnership between India and Switzerland. The agreement includes provisions for significant investments and job creation in India, along with tariff reductions on specific EFTA goods for Indian consumers.
