Union Minister of State for Ayush, Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, has suggested to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh the establishment of Ayush outpatient departments and treatment services in Military and Field Hospitals. Jadhav highlighted the potential benefits of integrating traditional Ayush medicine with modern healthcare to enhance the well-being of defense personnel. He emphasized the importance of providing evidence-based Ayush services in areas like preventive healthcare, lifestyle management, and rehabilitation to military personnel.

Jadhav praised the role of Armed Forces Medical Services in catering to the healthcare needs of soldiers in various challenging environments. He pointed out the current lack of dedicated Ayush services in many military and field hospitals and stressed the need to bridge this gap for a more comprehensive healthcare approach. The inclusion of Ayush services, according to Jadhav, would not only complement the existing healthcare system but also promote the integration of India’s traditional medical practices with modern healthcare delivery.

The proposal also includes the Ministry of Ayush offering technical support, professional guidance, and institutional cooperation, such as signing a Memorandum of Understanding, to facilitate the implementation of Ayush services in military healthcare facilities. Additionally, the government has taken steps to ensure the quality and regulatory compliance of Ayush drugs, including those sold online, through various regulatory measures and schemes.
