The Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Raksha Khadse, visited Imphal to assess the National Sports University (NSU) campus. She engaged with athletes, coaches, and officials, starting her day at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) to observe training sessions and motivate athletes towards international excellence.
Accompanied by senior officials, Khadse inspected the NSU’s permanent campus progress at Koutruk in Imphal West. Nearly 95% of the 325-acre campus construction is complete, featuring academic blocks, smart classrooms, laboratories, a library, sports science infrastructure, and hostels for students and faculty.
Khadse also evaluated the academic and high-performance ecosystem at NSU, focusing on sports sciences, coaching, technology, athlete development, and research. She emphasized the university’s role in enhancing India’s sports education framework and nurturing globally competitive professionals.
Highlighting India’s sports infrastructure expansion under PM Modi’s leadership, Khadse positioned NSU as pivotal in advancing Indian sports through a research-driven approach. She later visited the SAI National Centre of Excellence to review athlete support systems, emphasizing the government’s commitment to bolstering sports education and high-performance systems in the North-East.
