Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed gratitude to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for approving a 50% rebate in motor vehicle tax on automobile sales at the Gwalior Trade Fair-2026. This decision is expected to boost trade in the Gwalior-Chambal region and directly benefit the people. Scindia praised the Chief Minister’s vision for exempting automobiles from road tax at the renowned fair.
Soon after the Cabinet’s approval, Scindia took to social media to appreciate the move, stating that it will provide a new impetus to trade in the region. He also highlighted the historical significance of the Gwalior Trade Fair, initiated by his late father, Madhavrao Scindia, in 1905. The fair has evolved into one of Asia’s largest and globally recognized trade events, shaping the economic and cultural landscape of the Gwalior-Chambal region.
In a letter dated January 3, Union Minister Scindia had formally requested the tax rebate on automobile sales to Chief Minister Yadav. The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, under Yadav’s leadership, not only approved the rebate but also sanctioned other significant proposals, including the Madhya Pradesh Space Act, 2026, and the Madhya Pradesh Tech Policy, 2026. The latter policy aims to drive innovation in satellite manufacturing, geospatial analysis, and related applications, with projections of attracting substantial investments and creating thousands of jobs in the coming years.
