Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has written to the Chief Election Commissioner, expressing concerns about the distribution of Enumeration Forms in community centers instead of door-to-door visits for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka. She has urged the Election Commission to investigate the alleged dilution of the revision process and ensure the integrity of the electoral rolls.
Karandlaje emphasized the importance of accurate electoral rolls for democratic elections and requested the Commission to verify if the prescribed procedures are being followed in Karnataka. She raised apprehensions about the ongoing revision process, stating that camp-based verifications in community halls may compromise the accuracy of the electoral rolls.
The Minister highlighted the need for house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers and independent observers to maintain the credibility of the revision exercise. She expressed concerns over the inclusion of ineligible persons in the electoral rolls and urged strict adherence to the Constitution and Election Commission guidelines in the revision process.
Karandlaje alleged that the current revision process in Karnataka has caused widespread apprehension among various stakeholders and emphasized the importance of upholding the sanctity of the electoral rolls to ensure public confidence in the electoral process.
