Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forming the next government in West Bengal. Dismissing exit poll predictions, Majumdar believes the BJP will secure over 170 seats in the Assembly elections. He emphasized that actions, not words, will determine the election outcome in the state.
Majumdar pointed out Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s early public appearances during the elections as a sign of political pressure. He suggested that her change in routine after many years indicates a shift in the political landscape.
The Union Minister raised concerns about a violent incident in the Falta area, linking it to a pattern associated with Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership. Referring to TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, Majumdar alleged a history of violence in the region, including during previous elections.
Accusing the TMC of stifling free expression among voters, Majumdar criticized what he termed as “cellotape democracy” promoted by the party. He highlighted the escalating political tensions in West Bengal as parties await the election results to determine the state’s future leadership.
