Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will lead the National Pulses Conference at the Food Legumes Research Platform (FLRP) in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district. The conference aims to boost India’s self-reliance in pulses. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will attend as a special guest at the day-long event starting at 9:30 a.m.
Agriculture Ministers from key pulses-producing states like Odisha, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana will participate in the conference. Discussions will revolve around the ‘National Mission for Pulses Self-Reliance’, focusing on enhancing production, seed quality, value addition, and farmers’ income in pulses.
The event will bring together scientists, farmers, seed producers, policymakers, and industry representatives. State-of-the-art research labs and training facilities at FLRP will be inaugurated by Union Minister Chouhan and Chief Minister Yadav. They will also observe field trials and engage with farmers to address challenges.
The launch of the ‘Pulses Mission portal’ will be a key feature, facilitating real-time monitoring of production and distribution. High-yielding pulse varieties developed by ICAR institutes will be released and distributed to progressive farmers. This initiative aligns with PM Modi’s vision of self-sufficiency in pulses and a prosperous farming community.
