Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s dedication to developing all sectors in the eight Northeastern states, collectively known as ‘Ashtalakshmi.’ During a meeting in Mizoram’s Champhai district, Sahu expressed gratitude for the ongoing and upcoming projects benefiting the region’s residents. He stressed the importance of unity and cultural preservation while promoting national integration.
Sahu urged the people of Champhai to embrace unity and sustainable development to enhance the prosperity of the Northeast. The event included cultural performances and interactions with beneficiaries of government schemes like PMAY-U and DAY-NULM. District officials presented details of various schemes under the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, focusing on development indicators and welfare initiatives.
The Minister encouraged officials to maximize the use of lesser-known government schemes for the benefit of Champhai’s residents. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the benefits of these initiatives reach all eligible beneficiaries. Sahu also visited the Mualkawi Solid Waste Management Centre, an upcoming project under AMRUT 2.0, aimed at enhancing waste management in the region.
