Union Ministers Discuss Human-Wildlife Conflict Solutions in Karnataka

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H. D. Kumaraswamy, met with Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, to address the increasing human-wildlife conflict in Karnataka. Kumaraswamy expressed concern over rising elephant attacks in various districts, leading to fatalities and severe injuries, especially among farmers and livestock rearers. He emphasized the critical need for sustainable policies to tackle this issue effectively.

During the meeting, Kumaraswamy highlighted the urgency of the situation in Karnataka and stressed the importance of a long-term response strategy. In response, Minister Bhupender Yadav assured immediate attention to the matter and requested detailed inputs from Kumaraswamy for implementing necessary measures. The ministers also discussed enhancing coordination between their ministries and boosting development initiatives, including supporting the steel sector’s growth.

Kumaraswamy also met with Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, to address key development issues. They discussed projects like the Bengaluru-Pune High-Speed Rail corridor and the Bengaluru-Mumbai connection, emphasizing railway safety measures to prevent animal accidents. Kumaraswamy reviewed pending railway projects in Mandya and advocated for improved infrastructure and services in the region for better public service delivery.
