A special monument in Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu, is attracting many visitors due to a son’s love for his mother. Amurdeen, a businessman from Chennai, built this “Southern Taj Mahal” in memory of his late mother, inspired by a similar gesture by DMK leader M. Karunanidhi.
The monument, resembling the Taj Mahal, stands on one acre of land and includes a mosque dedicated to Amurdeen’s mother, a grand mosque, and a madrasa. Opened in June 2022, it has become a popular attraction, especially for those who cannot visit the original Taj Mahal in Agra.
With schools closed for summer break, more tourists from Tamil Nadu and beyond are flocking to see this unique structure. Visitors of all backgrounds are welcomed, and the management provides refreshments to help guests beat the summer heat.
Many people are commending Amurdeen for his tribute to his mother, appreciating the beauty and sentiment behind the monument.
