The United States has taken over the leadership of the Forum on Resource Geostrategic Engagement (FORGE), a coalition focused on establishing secure and resilient critical mineral supply chains. Secretary of State Marco Rubio initiated FORGE during a ministerial meeting in Washington to enhance cooperation with allies in diversifying these supply chains, reducing China’s dominance.
During its tenure as chair, the U.S. aims to advance critical mineral projects that drive the economy and support national security. The State Department emphasized the importance of safeguarding the country’s interests by collaborating with FORGE partners to accelerate these initiatives.
Previously, South Korea led the Minerals Security Partnership, a precursor to FORGE. The United States is committed to working with its partners to ensure the security of key critical minerals and looks forward to a productive term as chair.
