Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced a cashless health scheme for teachers and non-teaching staff in the state. The initiative aims to provide medical benefits to them and their families without delays or hassles. Under the ‘Chief Minister’s Teachers’ Cashless Medical Scheme,’ over 15 lakh teaching staff will receive medical coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh.
The scheme, inaugurated in Varanasi, will grant teachers and their families access to cashless medical facilities worth up to Rs 5 lakh. It is set to benefit about 15 lakh teachers and non-teaching staff associated with basic and secondary education, including Shiksha Mitras, instructors, cooks, and eligible staff of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the health and social security of teachers while urging educators to provide quality education aligned with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat.’
During the launch event, the Chief Minister facilitated the transfer of Rs 1,320 crore via Direct Benefit Transfer for students of the Basic Education Council. Each student is receiving Rs 1,200 to cover expenses like uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, and other essentials. Adityanath stressed the importance of universal access to education for all children, highlighting the pivotal role of teachers in this endeavor. He also underscored the significance of PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Nipun Bharat’ campaign in enhancing foundational education and achieving the vision of a ‘Developed India.’
Reflecting on the state’s educational transformation, the Chief Minister acknowledged the progress made in the education sector over the past nine years. He emphasized the improved status of teachers in society due to significant reforms. Adityanath reiterated the state government’s focus on the social security of teachers and ongoing efforts to address related concerns.
