Following Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up by the state government to look into reported irregularities in monetary offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The SIT includes Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police (IG) Kiran S from the Lucknow Range, and UP Finance Department Special Secretary Neel Ratan. They have been tasked to provide a preliminary report within seven days and a final report within 15 days.
A controversy arose after Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that a significant amount of money was missing from the offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, urging judicial intervention. Yadav expressed his concerns on a social media platform, emphasizing the sensitivity of the issue for Lord Ram’s devotees worldwide.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had requested Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for an SIT investigation following misleading information and rumors circulating about the incident. The trust sought clarity to dispel confusion among devotees and address the inaccurate claims being spread on social media.
Prakash Gupta, the temple trust’s camp office in-charge, acknowledged the possibility of donation miscalculations but clarified that all money received at donation counters was documented with receipts. He highlighted that the alleged irregularities likely occurred during the counting of offerings in the temple’s donation boxes, overseen by bank employees and trust representatives.
