Khanna emphasized the importance of citizens minimizing the use of petroleum products during the current crisis. He stated that it is every citizen’s responsibility to heed the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s call to conserve fuel resources. The minister’s decision to use an electric vehicle for his commute reflects the government’s directive to promote sustainable practices.
In line with PM Modi’s recent call for judicious resource utilization, several BJP leaders and state governments have taken similar steps. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced restrictions on official vehicle usage by ministers and public representatives, advocating for carpooling and increased reliance on public transportation. Additionally, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath mandated a 50% reduction in vehicle convoys for dignitaries to help preserve foreign exchange reserves and reduce unnecessary fuel consumption.
CM Yogi urged citizens to follow the Prime Minister’s message by curbing petrol and diesel usage, especially amidst global economic uncertainties. He emphasized the need for prudent spending and avoiding unnecessary expenses like gold purchases.
